About this course

On 26 April 2023 the Assisted Decision-Making (Capacity) Act (2015) (the “2015 Act”) and the Assisted Decision-Making (Capacity) (Amendment) Act 2022 (Ireland) (the “2022 Amendment Act”) were commenced.

Gain a deep understanding of assisted decision making with this legal course. Learn about the rights and responsibilities involved, and develop the skills needed to support clients and their families with their informed decisions in accordance with the Assisted Decision Making Act.

Course Syllabus

This intensive one-day training programme will examine the law in relation to Consent and Capacity, reviewing the HSE National Consent Policy 2022 and ensuring delegates understand  the Assisted Decision-Making (Capacity) Act 2015 and what it will mean to them in practice.

A central theme of the training includes an in-depth discussion of the legal and ethical dilemmas presented by the issue of capacity and its assessment.

You will have the opportunity to discuss specific cases with the expert trainer and get answers on how to deal with complex situations in your line of work.
