The Annual CPD Package 2026 In-Person Conference is a one-day legal CPD event providing 5 hours of Group Study CPD. Delegates can attend in Galway on 2 December 2026 or Dublin on 8 December 2026. The programme includes five presentations covering legal AI, tort law, assisted decision-making, crisis management and litigation.
Solicitors subject to the standard 2026 Law Society of Ireland CPD requirement must complete 25 hours of CPD during the year. At least 5 hours must be completed through Group Study. The La Touche Training in-person conference provides 5 Group Study CPD hours in one day, covering the standard annual Group Study requirement.
The Law Society of Ireland defines Group Study as an organised CPD session undertaken by three or more people for at least 30 minutes. Physical attendance by the solicitor is required. Watching a live online feed does not qualify as Group Study, although it may qualify as eLearning. An in-person legal conference can therefore satisfy Group Study requirements where the relevant conditions are met.
Yes. The Law Society permits a maximum of 7 CPD hours to be completed in a single day. The La Touche Training conference provides 5 hours of in-person Group Study CPD, allowing solicitors with the standard requirement to complete their annual 5-hour Group Study element in one conference day.
The conference programme covers five areas relevant to contemporary legal practice: legal AI and technology, recent developments in tort law, the Assisted Decision-Making (Capacity) framework, crisis management for solicitors, and delay and want of prosecution applications following Kirwan v Connors. The sessions are designed for legal practitioners seeking updates across substantive law, practice management and emerging technology.
Yes. Cormac Ó Culáin is scheduled to deliver a session on Legal AI examining artificial intelligence and technology within modern legal practice. The topic is relevant to solicitors and other legal professionals considering how technological developments are affecting legal work, professional workflows and the delivery of legal services.
Yes. William Binchy BL will provide a Tort Law Update covering recent developments and key issues. James Nerney BL will present a separate litigation session on delay and want of prosecution applications following Kirwan v Connors. These sessions provide practitioners with updates on developments relevant to civil litigation and contentious legal practice.
Yes. Patricia Rickard-Clarke and Martina Larkin are scheduled to deliver a practical session on the Assisted Decision-Making (Capacity) framework. The presentation will examine capacity, Decision-Making Assistance Agreements and Co-Decision-Making Agreements, making it relevant to practitioners who encounter capacity and assisted decision-making issues when advising or representing clients.
Yes. Gareth Thomas, solicitor, will present a session on Crisis Management for Solicitors. The session focuses on responding to and managing challenging situations within legal practice. This introduces a practice-management dimension alongside the conference’s substantive legal updates, reflecting the operational and professional challenges that solicitors may encounter in running matters and serving clients.
Delegates can choose between two in-person dates. The Galway conference takes place at the Clayton Hotel on Wednesday, 2 December 2026, while the Dublin conference takes place at the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel, Dublin 8, on Tuesday, 8 December 2026. Both events run from 09:30 to 16:00 and provide 5 Group Study CPD hours.
