If you are an Expert Witness working in Ireland this conference is a must, you will hear from high profile speakers including Judges, Barristers, Solicitors and Expert Witnesses who will discuss key issues affecting the expert witness industry and provide updates on the laws that affect your expert witness work.

The Future for Expert Witnesses Conference will examine recent case law including the recent UK case Mr. Bates V The Post Office where we will examine the importance of the instructions received by an Expert Witness. We will discuss the role and duties of expert witnesses and the position on single joint experts in Ireland. We will examine what a competent investigation and report should look like, what should be included and what documents and reports should be disclosed as part of your investigation. We will also look at how you should calculate your fees. We will then move on to the future and how you can expand your practice and work as an expert witness internationally. As part of looking to the future we will consider the role AI might play in future expert investigations and reports.

Join us at the Gibson Hotel

Established in 1995, La Touche Training is Ireland’s leading legal training company for Expert Witnesses.

We regularly run conferences for our clients to keep them up to date on all key developments in the area.

Expert witnesses are crucial in Ireland’s legal system, providing valuable insights and evidence to help judges and juries make informed decisions.

Many experts are skilled in their field of expertise but lack a full understanding of their role and duties, the skills to write first class reports for court and give evidence confidently, particularly when vigorously challenged on their findings.

The recent Court of Appeal decision in Duffy v Brendan McGee 2022 again highlighted the duties and responsibilities of expert witnesses. The judgment of Collins J noted that, far too often, expert witnesses appear to fundamentally misunderstand their role and wrongly regard themselves as advocates for the cause of the party by whom they have been retained.

Join us and learn how to become an effective expert witness.
