Investigations rarely depend on one skill alone. Their quality can be affected by how evidence is gathered, how interviews are conducted, how findings are assessed and how clearly the final report is written.
From September to November 2026, La Touche Training will deliver a series of practical courses for investigators and other professionals involved in evidence gathering, complaints, workplace procedures and organisational decision-making.
The programme includes online and in-person options for professionals working in HR, health and safety, compliance, regulation, local authorities, public bodies and commercial organisations.

Establishing what happened is only one part of an effective accident investigation. Organisations must also understand why an incident occurred, identify underlying causes and decide what action could help prevent it from happening again.
This practical two-day course covers the legal framework surrounding workplace accidents, evidence preservation, witness interviewing, reporting obligations, root cause analysis and investigation report writing. Participants will examine structured techniques including Ishikawa diagrams, barrier analysis and fault tree analysis.
The course is relevant to HSEQ officers, risk managers, line managers, claims assessors, company directors and others responsible for investigating workplace incidents or improving organisational safety and compliance.

The quality of an investigation depends heavily on the information gathered during interviews. Poor planning, leading questions or an unstructured approach can result in incomplete evidence and challenges to the investigation’s findings.
This two-day course introduces the internationally recognised PEACE Model. Participants learn how to plan, conduct and evaluate fair and effective investigative interviews. The training includes realistic scenarios, practical exercises and interview role-play with a professional actor, followed by individual feedback.
The course is suitable for workplace, regulatory, fraud and public sector investigators, as well as HR, compliance, governance and legal professionals. No previous investigative interviewing experience is required.

Publicly available online information can provide valuable evidence and intelligence. However, investigators must know how to locate relevant material, assess its reliability, protect their investigative activity and capture evidence correctly.
Delivered over two online half days, this course covers open-source material, web search techniques, online databases, relevant legislation and procedural considerations, anonymisation, digital images, websites and evidence capture.
It is designed for anyone who uses the internet as part of an investigation or intelligence-gathering exercise, including investigators, compliance officers, regulators, HR professionals, internal auditors and legal practitioners.

An investigation report must communicate complex information clearly and objectively. Its structure, language and treatment of evidence can affect how its findings are understood and whether they withstand legal, regulatory or organisational scrutiny.
This one-day course examines the distinction between facts, inferences and opinions, as well as report structure, grammar, layout, format and style. Participants receive a model format that can be adapted to their own professional context. The course also includes practical exercises and expert feedback.
Its broad relevance makes it suitable for investigators, compliance officers, health and safety professionals, healthcare professionals, local authority officers, internal auditors, regulatory inspectors and anyone producing reports for tribunals, civil proceedings or regulatory hearings.

Complaints need to be addressed consistently, fairly and in line with the organisation’s procedures. Early decisions about communication, expectations and escalation can shape the entire process.
This practical one-day course examines the stages of a complaint, the root causes of complaints, managing emotional responses, questioning and interviewing skills, serious complaint investigations, findings and recommendations, and writing the final investigation report.
The course is particularly relevant to department managers, HR professionals, customer service leaders, quality assurance teams and staff responsible for handling or investigating complaints.

Investigators and decision-makers are expected to assess information objectively. However, unconscious assumptions can influence which evidence receives attention, how information is interpreted and how people are assessed.
Although this half-day course has relevance well beyond investigations, it provides useful complementary skills for anyone responsible for interviewing, assessing evidence or reaching professional decisions. Participants learn how unconscious bias operates, how to recognise common forms of bias and how to use practical strategies to support fairer and more consistent decision-making.
The course is suitable for investigators, senior leaders, managers, HR professionals, recruitment teams and others involved in workplace decision-making.

Workplace investigations must balance thorough fact-finding with fair procedures, natural justice and the organisation’s employment policies. Mistakes in evidence gathering, interviewing or disciplinary processes can leave findings open to challenge.
This practical two-day course covers the employment law context, grievance and disciplinary procedures, evidence assessment, interviewing, note-taking, report writing and the principles of natural and constitutional justice. Participants apply the learning through exercises and role-plays based on realistic workplace cases.
It is designed for HR professionals, managers, employee relations specialists and others responsible for conducting or managing employment investigations in public or private sector organisations.

Each course addresses a different stage or aspect of professional investigations. Individuals can select the programme most relevant to their current responsibilities, while organisations may wish to combine several topics to develop investigation capability across a team.
La Touche Training courses focus on practical application. Small-group delivery gives participants opportunities to ask questions, work through realistic scenarios and receive guidance from experienced trainers.
Places can be booked through the individual course pages above. La Touche Training can also deliver tailored in-house programmes for organisations that need to train a wider team or address particular policies, procedures or investigation types.
